New strain of Ebola virus frightens UN organisation

The Virginia Beach News.Net
Friday 21st November, 2008

An outbreak of the deadly Ebola disease that killed 37 people in Uganda last year is being regarded as a new strain of the virus.

The strain, which has been named Bundibugyo ebolavirus after the district where the outbreak occurred, joins other known species of the so-called filovirus which causes haemorrhagic fever.

More than one in three of patients infected with Bundibugyo died.

The Ebola virus is known for its lethal coverage and its symptoms of blood loss, shock and organ failure, which lead to coma, delirium and, in many cases, death within three to seven days.

Ebola was first recognised in 1976 in Zaire, now the Democratic Republic of Congo, and is named after the Ebola river with which this outbreak is associated.

Approximately 1,200 deaths have been documented by the World Health Organisation.

Here today gone tomorrow. What a creep this person must be. He/she obviously hasn’t lost a loved one or a very dear friend. Get a life and carpe diem.
